General FAQs

This companion document (FAQs) is not a legal document, nor is it legally binding. This document is intended to help you understand the clinical ARP framework, but the language in the Clinical ARP Program Parameters and the Conditions of Payment Ministerial Orders (MOs) ultimately speaks for itself. In the event there is a discrepancy between this document and the provisions in the signed MOs, the signed MOs shall be paramount.

General FAQs

What is a clinical ARP?

A clinical Alternative Relationship Plan is a physician compensation model that is an alternative to the fee-for-service payment method.  A clinical ARP compensates physicians for providing a set of clinical services at defined facilities to a target patient population.

What is an EOI?

The Expression of Interest is a short document that includes basic information about the proposed clinical ARP (or expansion) including intended location, patients to be served, and program services to be provided.

Why a New Model?

The Blended Capitation Model provides Albertans with increased access to primary health care, physicians with the flexibility to provide services in different ways so they can spend more time with patients and deliver comprehensive care that encourages health promotion, wellness and enhanced collaborative care, and government with a more sustainable health system with better accountability, stability and budget predictability.
